Meet The Characters
Rick the inchworm
Rick is playing in the woods when the stick he is on is moved! He needs to find his way back home with a little help from new creatures he meets along the way.
Tim Goode
Tim Goode is a friendly stick bug. He is the first new friend that Rick meets and he helps him on the first leg of his journey home.
Sam the snake
Sam Wright is Tim's snake friend. He shows Rick the joys of the woods and he points out all of the different creatures Rick has never seen before.

The story of an inch worm?
One day, while my husband Matt and I were traveling back from his parents' house in Rhode Island, something flew onto the windshield. My first thought was that we had just taken on an inchworm passenger. Then my heart sank.

What if an inchworm flew onto the windshield and we are now traveling at 60 miles per hour away from his home? Obviously curious, Matt asked what I was looking at. I told him my thoughts and was thankfully able to assure him it was just the stem of a leaf.
​
He told me that my inchworm thoughts would make a great book, so the gears began to move and before bed that night, 29 stanzas had flown from my fingertips onto my laptop.
​
The overall moral of the story is that we all live on the same tree (aka the same Earth), and that although we look different from one another, we are more similar than we think.
I hope "Inches From Home" becomes a favorite of kids all over, especially in your house.
